T.E.E.M. GATEWAY - AmeriCorps
WHO ARE THE T.E.E.M. GATEWAY MEMBERS? 
Rutgers TEEM Gateway AmeriCorps members will assist in various projects during their direct service alongside of a variety of individual organizations including Rutgers Cooperative Extension offices, Juvenile Justice Commission programs and partners, Family and Youth Success Centers, and other mentoring, youth development and educational programs.
Examples of service activities include the following: Coaching, tutoring, mentoring and/or recreation activity assistance at youth programs; Facilitation of volunteer recruitment, training and coordination; Ongoing communication with program coordinators to collect information for media, publicity or community release; Assistance in the planning and implementation of special events and community projects; Organizing and conducting training activities, presentations and other educational projects alongside of organization staff.
Along with the youth work and community education components of AmeriCorps member service, the training and skills development provided, and other direct service at site placements, AmeriCorps members will assist in projects during National Days of Service, statewide projects involving various other AmeriCorps programs in New Jersey, and Rutgers TEEM Gateway volunteer and training events as determined. On Friday October 29th, 2010 Rutgers University welcomed the AmeriCorps Launch at the Paul Robeson Campus Center. This event, featuring over 20 different AmeriCorps programs, kick-started the 2010-2011 service year and united its members. |
Member Duties : Rutgers TEEM Gateway AmeriCorps members will serve with a variety of organizations engaging in direct service, which will include the following: tutoring, mentoring, volunteer recruitment, volunteer training and coordination, events and project planning, educational projects, community education and other youth development work. Members will also engage in projects during National Days of Service, statewide projects involving various other AmeriCorps programs in New Jersey, and Rutgers TEEM Gateway volunteer and training events.
